Modern Brachytherapy Tool: The Interstitial CT/MR Ring Applicator expands the treatment options for cervix and endometrium tumors with lateral expansion as is the case for parametrial tumor growth. This combination of the classical intracavitary treatment with an interstitial component leads to improved local control without increasing the side effects. The design, using titanium for the intrauterine tubes and the locking mechanism, guarantees structural stability.
Targeted Dose Coverage: The applicator design is in line with the Vienna technique for gynecological brachytherapy combined with interstitial treatment. Image-guided needle placement in the parametrium enables the user to overcome the limitations of the classical Ring Applicator. The needle template, which is integrated in the ring, enhances the accuracy and reproducibility of needle implants. Both implants parallel to the intrauterine tube (0°) as well as implants with diverging needles (5°) are possible. Dose distributions can be tailored via MR based imaging to match the target and to spare the organs at risk.
Various Configurations: The Interstitial CT/MR Ring Applicator Set (60°) is composed of a 30 mm Ring Applicator and four intrauterine tubes. There are three intrauterine tubes with 5 mm diameter and different intrauterine lengths: 20 mm, 40 mm, and 60 mm. Furthermore, one thin intrauterine tube with 3.5 mm diameter and a length of 60 mm adds treatment flexibility. In order to direct needles not only parallel to the intrauterine tube, but also diverging, the alternative Ring Applicator for diverging needle implants can be used. Further optional accessories such as the rectal retractor, the perineal bar and the needle collector round out the set.
